J.G. Matheny was one of five girls, born to hard working parents who moved the family a lot, ultimately settling in Cheyenne, WY. Forced often to entertain herself, J.G. began telling stories at an early age. Time travel and mystery were her favorite themes, and they combine splendidly in her Middle Grade novel, THE PRINCESS IN MY HEAD. First written for her daughter to explore uncommon resources for problem solving, it evolved into an engaging novel and screenplay where thoughts, magically traveling over time between the two young heroines, inspire unique solutions.
J.G. Matheny's career as an FBI Agent assigned to the New York City Joint Terrorism Task Force provided more story-telling themes from the world of bombs, task forces and financial intrigue.
J.G. Matheny now lives with her family in Castle Rock, CO. She is an avid skier and outdoors enthusiast, former President of Wyoming Writers, Inc. (2018-2019), and chairman of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI (2020). She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Wyoming, and a Master's Degree in Journalism from New York University.
